GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting will consist of all member universities of the network and they will be required to meet once a year.  The Annual General Meeting is responsible for the election a Chair and Members to the Executive Body of the WCU Network.

EXECUTIVE BODY/STEERING COMMITTEE

The Executive Committee of World Cities University Network is composed of the Chair of the network and Executive Officers who will meet at least once a year.

The Executive Committee will manage the activities of the network and is responsible for the implementation of the decisions of the Annual General Meeting.  The Executive Committee will communicate with and consult member universities regularly.

In its first meeting the Executive Committee will determine who, among its other members will act as Chair, if the existing one should be unable to act in that capacity.

In particular the Steering Committee/Executive Committee shall:

¨ submit proposals to the Annual General Meeting concerning the policy of the network

¨ prepare the agenda for meetings of the Annual General Meeting

¨ make Recommendations to the Annual General Meeting in relation to the admission and exclusion of members

¨ manage and allocate the funds of WCU in accordance with the budget approved by the Annual General Meeting.

¨ take all necessary decisions concerning the programmes of the network

¨ appoint the Executive Officer

¨ form and organize working parties, workshops and committees commissioned to carry out research on specific issues

¨ draw up internal rules and regulations

¨ render and account of its activities to the Annual General Meeting in an annual report

¨ propose the annual budget

The members of the Executive Committee must be engaged in the higher management of a member university on the day of the election and be proposed by their university of origin.  Members of the Executive Committee shall attend it personally and shall act in a personal capacity.

CHAIR

The Chair of WCU shall be elected by the Annual General Meeting by an absolute majority of Members present and voting.  The Chair shall remain in office until the election of a new Chair by the next following Annual General Meeting.  He/She will not be eligible for re-election.  The Chair of World City Universities Network will chair meetings of the Executive Committee

The outgoing Chair remains an ex-officio Member of the Steering Committee for a further period of two years.

SECRETARIAT

The secretariat will be based at the member university where the Executive Officer is based.  The Secretariat will assist with the day to day administration of the Network.
