In May 2008, World Cities University Network had the first official Annual General Meeting in Sydney, Australia. The meeting set the course of WCU for the next year. Potential projects, partners and new areas of research were discussed and decided on.
WCU is pleased to announce that RMIT Melbourne has been formally welcomed into the membership of WCU. RMIT introduced its Knowledge Capital project to WCU, which was received with interest.
The mandatory changes to the Executive Committee of World Cities University Network were also finalized during the Annual Meeting. WCU is pleased to announce that Professor Ross Milbourne (UTS) has taken over as chair, and that Professor Zhe-wei Zhou (Shanghai University), Dr. Francisco Garcia (Tec de Monterrey), and Dr. Maurits van Rooijen (Westminster) have filled the Vice-Chair positions.
Furthermore, WCU has identified key new areas of research. The General Meeting chose a project on Water and Waste Management, led by Professor Guang-ren Qian and Shanghai University, to act as a model for future developments.
